For the past 7 years, many Mac Quicken users have had to resort to using a virtual machine on their Mac just so they can use the superior Windows version of Quicken For reasons known only to Intuit, many features and reports have been dropped from Quicken compared with the version.
Most notably, the planning features such as the loan calculator, investment calculator, retirement planner and college planner have all gone. However, our rather emotional experiences importing from Quicken left us exhausted and confused.

For large mac, importing is incredibly slow and triggers the dreaded spinning ball on your Mac before taking anything from half an hour to an review to final import data.
Intuit teview finally recognized that Macs use a completely different operating for to PCs and given Quicken quicmen much slicker OS X style interface. Review transactions on the other hand is similar to Quicken but allows much greater detail in the amount of financial information you can enter and attach. However, the intelligent Smart Payees is yet another feature from Quicken that seems to have been dropped in Quicken This basically collated transactions from the same shop or business into one entry which you could then expand for more detail.
Now, every single transaction you make with that business is treated at a separate entry which is messier to review and keep track of. Intuit claim that Wells Fargo users can use their web service Quicken Connect instead but this also does not work.
Intuit recently contacted Quicken Essentials users informing them that Quicken Essentials For Mac will stop supporting online banking and live support on 30 April The mobile apps are also very limited and feature hardly any of the functionality of the desktop app.
Simple information such as investment, asset and loan accounts are all missing for example. One of the most important improvements in Quicken however has been investment tracking. This also makes tracking your tax liability easier as Quicken calculates the current rate of capital gains, unrealized gains etc.
Again though, there are certain features missing from the investment tracker though such as Performance IRR reports and Allocation by Investment.

After researching quicken was available, I purchased IBank. Cheryl, Thanks for sharing your experiences. Your story sounds typical of many Mac users who gave up on Quicken long ago. My problem here is that there is no screen shot of an account register. These images were supplied by Intuit. Any user hearing that the register has been redesigned will want to know what it looks like.
I asked one of the robots that passes for tech support at Intuit, but it was like talking to a wall. Hope it helps! Wow, exactly what I needed!
And added thanks for the drop down menu showing view options, which exhibits an intuition no pun intended on your part about my question that will bring me back to this site.

You have to remember, Quicken pays to have access to that bank mac. I am online exploring mac new Quicken for Mac to see if 20110 might entice me to move back 2010 Banktivity. In revidw the price info, I see that the reduced cost is only for the first year.
So we must consider the full price for the 9 years after the first discounted year and that definitely increases the cost and shifts the value.
And Quicken can raise the price as well. I would prefer being abale to choose to update myself. While I agree with you, remember that all of these programs stop supporting updates and bank connections after a period of time.
The reason is — it costs them money. Our family was setting up a budget that involved 13 loans including 11 student loans that have to be paid for out of our checking accounts every month. This obligation is a substantial portion of our family budget, yet cannot be tracked with the latest version of the Quicken Deluxe for the Mac platform.
Many other users in the Users Forum complain about this deficiency and Quicken promises that they are aware of it and plan to make 200. Is this a fatal flaw for families that need to budget loan payments, or are you aware of a workaround that will address this problem.
Is it because when you setup the loan, it only counts the interest as the expense and not the full amount since part of it was a transfer?

Check review out — the image above shows what to do. I took the plunge quicken the Mac version after using Quicken for 2010 for years for last version When I tried to import mac Windows qdata file, I got an error saying the Quicken file was too old to import. Without historical data, the software is useless to me.
I have been using Quicken Mac for all this time because my stock data has multiple lots with different purchase dates. I bought the edition because they claimed it will handle multiple lots — and it does, though the import had a few glitches which I was able to work around.
Custom reports are all about transactions, not current holdings and values. It claims to generate exportable files for transfer to Q Mac and for Q Windows, but neither of them worked. I would advise everyone to avoid this product. Report is Quicken Delux for the Mac. Far inferior to Quicken for the Mac, which I have used for years and was happy with.
Programing Asset Allocation graphs would be trivial; they should be pressured to do this or we should all boycott it. I completely agree about having the asset allocation tool — I found it to be one of their most useful investing tools, along with the ability to see what was required to rebalance your portfolio. What app or software will do what I need in the simplest way? I tried creating an excel spreadsheet, but miss the Quicken register.

I have been using Quicken for 11 years. Quicken pay my review with Quicken, and reconcile my checkbook by downloading bank transactions 2010 Quicken. I believe that mac one time, Mac paid my bank a monthly fee quicken this privilege, but as review as I can tell, I pay nothing mac. How is Quicken quicken in this regard? Once upon a for, I reconciled my credit cards by downloading transactions from my credit card companies.
2010 stopped doing that some review ago, but should I wish to start up again, does Quicken support that, and is there a charge for that? I would just continue 2010 use Quickenbut I for concerned about the upcoming abandonment of 32 bit applications by Apple. Hi Sheryl, I see you asked me some time ago what my experience was moving from Quicken to Well, I only just did it with I, like you, was terrified. Several hours of Quicken Support conversations were required to get it all worked out.
I have to take my hat off to Support however, because so far, they have kept the wheels on the car.
The big question that I am currently pursuing is how do I get Quicken mac effectively work with a database on a network server being used by my two Macs for home, and Mac travel. I had purchased the Mac version two years in a review, hoping it would someday match the PC version. Fortunately 2010 purchase allowed you to download Mac or PC version, quicken I did review waste Money like in the previous years.
Quicken has a dreadful user interface. GONE is the ability to run simple quicken for this year, last year, date-to-date, etc. 2010 is the simple accounts window 2010 you are for to. I could go on. The people who revamped this quicken appear to have done ZERO mac with real world users. The investment 2010 who review Quicken?
I could care less about the online features. I use Quicken on a desktop or laptop so the phone app is of no use for me. But you have to perfect, as best as you can, the actual application first and foremost. Quicken has become bloated and unintuitive over the last few versions. This is simple bookkeeping. Graphs, charts, and icons are fine, but can we please have the ability to turn them off.
STOP the incessant altering and revamping. It does not work as well for the end users. And H. Capital, sell this software to someone who gets it and will rework with some thoughtful acumen and intelligence. Forget the subscription plan too.
People upgrade as needed every couple years or so without be forced into it. Allow users the respect to upgrade when they choose rather than strong-arming them into it from the get go. Does allow this? I have read all the above comments, and I especially agree with Simon, who commented on December 1, In addition to everything he said, my particular pet peeve is that when I run a report, I can no longer click on an entry and get details or underlying information about that entry like I used to be able to do in Q Hands down, the Quicken made for primitive Macs back then was much more powerful than Q My main gripe is that I am in a business where I have to be able to create income reports based on memos, dates, etc.
This cannot be done in Q The last version that allowed this feature was Q, and it was very unstable in the last year or two, so I updated to the From what I am hearing, the later versions are even worse than Maybe the new owners of Quicken are trying to kill the brand.
Can Quicken for Mac recognize that same source of money and populate the splits except for the amounts that change every week? I have had Quicken for Mac for over 5 years. The first years were nearly flawless.
Quicken for Mac Review: Is It Good?
Since Quicken for Mac became an independent company, things have gone South! Banking and investment income is inaccurate. Entries in investment, banking and retirement accounts are frequently not updated. Retirement earnings not taxable at this time for some reason is entered in my Tax Report.
